The evening took place at a very quintessential Los Angeles venue, Hollywood Forever Cemetery. A place where famous people like David Lynch, Judy Garland, and Johnny Ramone have been laid to rest. Yet despite being a cemetery, this place is not at all gloomy, but rather peaceful, with numerous fountains, grass lawns, and nothing is more LA than having peacocks prancing around the grounds of a cemetery that is also a place hosting Sunday yoga sessions, movie screenings, and concerts.

By sunset, the lawn was filled with laid-out blankets, with guests picnicking in preparation for the show.

Fontaines D.C. came out onto a full moon-lit stage with “Boys in the Better Land” to loud cheers from the fans. The crowd was a melting pot of different demographics, united by the shared appreciation for the band. It seemed to be spread out in islands of different moods, with some groups just chilling on the grass, slightly swaying their heads to the music, while others going full-on jumping and dancing to each song.

The setlist consisted of 19 songs, including the newest single “Six Shot Morning,” which was met with great enthusiasm from the fans, as well as their most popular songs like “Marianne,” “I Love You,” and “Starbuster.”

The band created a very special atmosphere that was only reinforced by the illuminating full moon and being surrounded by actual tombstones, which altogether created an experience everyone in attendance likely will never forget. The rare opportunities when the band members chose to speak were used to shout out political situations like Palestine or to give David Lynch a dedication through a song.

Fontaines D.C. recently announced a new tour with tickets selling out in mere minutes, which made this evening all that more special as the band is set to reach all new highs.
