The Black Queen came to El Paso on the “Fever Daydream 10-Year Tour.” It is the last few days of their tour, and they brought with them Trace Amount and local musician Ness Daniels. They performed at Club 101, a club with lots of history in El Paso. It reminds me of the old discos from the ’70s with a sunken dance floor and disco ball, seating around the edge of the dance floor. The stage is simple, but there is plenty of space for two bands to set up.

The opening band for the night was Ness Daniels. She is a Latino Synthwave artist in El Paso, Texas. She has been a keyboardist for a few bands; she has been a solo artist; currently, she has a four-piece backing band.

They have a great synthwave sound with a slight ’80s feel to their music. They recently released a song, “Midnight Rain.” They sang that song and “The Iron Tiger” and a few others from her collection of work.

Trace Amounts, from New York City, is a DJ and industrial musician. His music is experimental harsh industrial. He entered the stage with a recorded track playing; during many of his songs, he beat on a drum. The stage was dark, with a strobe on the floor lighting him up as he performed. He created a form of chaos and tension, setting the mood as each song was performed with precision and had a purpose.

A link to his music below, my suggestion is you need to check this music out:

The Black Queen, from Los Angeles, formed in 2015; they have been on the second leg of their “Fever Daydream 10-Year Anniversary Tour” of the release of their debut album. Founding members Greg Puciato, lead vocalist, and Steven Ryan Alexander will once again be joined by guitarist Danny Lohner (Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle) and drummer Chris Pennie (The Dillinger Escape Plan).

The stage was dark with red lights facing the audience. They opened their show with “Non-Consent” followed by “Ice to Never” and “Secret Scream.” They went on to perform 12 more songs before closing with a Björk cover, “Army of Me.”
