Fit For a King have announced the deluxe edition of Lonely God, out October 30 via Solid State Records.
The expanded version of the band’s eighth album adds three new tracks: “Steady Doom,” “Blood Pact,” and “Dirt.” Alongside the announcement, Fit For a King has shared the visualizer for “Dirt,” giving fans another look at the darker, heavier edges surrounding this era of the band.
“Dirt” follows the earlier release of “Blood Pact” and continues the deluxe edition’s extension of Lonely God. The track leans into the band’s ability to pair crushing heaviness with emotional collapse, which is sort of Fit For a King’s preferred method of kicking the door open and then asking what happened to the hinges.
“‘Dirt’ is about struggling to take accept fault for any of your failures,” vocalist Ryan Kirby said. “And creating stories of how others lead to your downfall are speeding up the inevitable destruction of your hopes and dreams.”
The deluxe edition arrives after Lonely God dropped last summer, continuing a long-running evolution for the Texas metalcore band. The current lineup features Kirby on vocals, Bobby Lynge on guitar, Daniel Gailey on guitar, Trey Celaya on drums, and Ryan “Tuck” O’Leary on bass and vocals.
Across their catalog, Fit For a King have built their sound around metalcore unpredictability, alternative melody, deathcore brutality, and electronic textures, while keeping the focus on the bond that has carried the band through more than a decade of change. That foundation stretches back to their independent debut, Descendants, in 2011 and continued through Creation/Destruction, Slave to Nothing, Deathgrip, The Path, The Hell We Create, and now Lonely God.
The band’s reach has only grown through the years. The Hell We Create marked their fifth Top 3 debut on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and their third straight Top 15 debut on the Top Album Sales chart. Their catalog has gathered just shy of half a billion streams, driven by songs including “When Everything Means Nothing,” “The Price of Agony,” and “Breaking the Mirror.”
Fit For a King has also collaborated with artists including August Burns Red, The Plot In You, The Ghost Inside, and We Came As Romans, while continuing to pack rooms on tour. With Lonely God, the band continues to push its sound forward without losing the weight, urgency, and brotherhood at the center of the project.
The deluxe edition of Lonely God is out October 30 via Solid State Records. “Dirt” is available now.
