There is something about a Ryan Beatty show that makes everything feel a little calmer. On October 12, Beatty brought his “Arms Over Armor Tour” to Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta, bringing his intimate and laid-back energy. Before the music even began, Beatty kicked off the night by making a paper airplane and launching it into the crowd, adding a playful, unexpected moment to an otherwise intimate evening. Beatty opened the set with “Secret Language,” off his most recent album, Sweet Fortune. The first notes eased the crowd into the night and set the tone for a show that felt just as much about connecting with each other as the music itself.
There was no need for an over-the-top production or elaborate stage setup. The songs spoke for themselves, and Beatty’s angelic voice did most of the work. As he made his way through each song, fans swayed along to the music, some resting their heads on each other’s shoulders, but all admiring the show in awe.

One of the best things about Beatty’s music is how easily it makes you feel understood. His lyrics leave room for listeners to find their own meaning in them, and that feeling carried into the crowd at Buckhead Theatre. Whether people were singing along to every word or simply standing back and taking it all in, there was something comforting about being in a room full of people who connected to the same songs for entirely different reasons.

The night ended with “Fleur de Lis,” the closing track from Sweet Fortune. It was a fitting closing song for a set that held so much meaning and emotion to begin with. After spending the evening moving through different eras of his music, ending with the final song on his newest record brought everything full circle.

Ryan Beatty’s music has always felt like something you discover at exactly the right time in your life. His Atlanta show was a reminder of why experiencing his songs live feels like an entirely different experience. It was the kind of night that reminded me how music has a way of making a room full of strangers feel almost like a family reunion.
