There’s something a little funny about a massive heavy metal band playing an opera house, but Parkway Drive managed to turn that idea into something genuinely special. The Australian natives took over the iconic Sydney Opera House for a one-night-only performance alongside a full symphony orchestra, reimagining their music in a setting that’s a long way from the arena stages, fireballs, and pyro displays fans have come to expect from the band… this stage is covered in flowers, honor, and great gratefulness

Parkway Drive has been on an incredible run over the past few years, continuing to grow their audience through massive tours, major festival appearances, and a live show that has become an attraction of its own. With eight studio albums and another live album from Wacken, “Home” is a great add to the collection. While plenty of other bands have built their reputations on elaborate stage productions, Parkway Drive have made a habit of pushing things a little further. At this point, the only band that might give them a run for their money in the pyro department is Rammstein.

But HOME – Live at the Sydney Opera House takes a different approach; instead of the crazy spectacle of a live show, the band has stripped things back in some ways and expanded their sound in others, bringing a full symphony orchestra into the mix. The result is a different perspective on some of Parkway Drive’s most recognizable songs, giving familiar material a new layer without losing the weight of the true musicianship. The rendition of the single “Prey” is live on all streaming platforms ahead of the December 4 release of the whole album, along with a video to showcase the event.
