Mushroomhead was back home in Cleveland for their annual Halloween show. Alongside them for this show were the legendary Fear Factory, Nine Treasures, Bittersweet Revenge, and The Jotunn. Even with member changes and additions throughout the years, Mushroomhead still knows how to put on an explosive show.
Starting off the night was Ohio natives The Jotunn, with grueling vocals and a sound that got the crowd amped up. It’s no wonder this band was added to the lineup for the night.
Next up to the stage was Bittersweet Revenge. Also hailing from Cleveland, OH, the band put on a remarkable show with their heavy hitting sound and dueling guitars. Having played shows with Mushroomhead in the past, Bittersweet Revenge definitely knows how to get the fans ready for the main acts of the night.
Up next was the official tour openers, Nine Treasures. Coming from Inner Mongolia, the band brought an interesting take on heavy metal, much like The Hu, using traditional instruments and throat singing to bring new elements into their songs. They definitely brought a special energy to the night.
Coming to take the stage next was co-headliner, the legendary Fear Factory. Starting the set off right with a heavy hitter, “Acres Of Skin,” the band already had the crowd feasting for more. Playing through a total of 12 songs, Fear Factory didn’t hesitate, hitting songs such as “Replica,” “Zero Signal,” and “Martyr,” to the newest song in their catalog, “Roboticist.” With high energy from every member of the band, running back and forth onto the speakers to get closer to the crowd, Fear Factory made sure no one would leave forgetting their name.
The time had finally come for Mushroomhead to take to the stage, starting with walking out to the “SpongeBob SquarePants” theme song before ripping into “Eye to Eye” off the latest record. The energy was already off the charts, from the water drums to the singers running around and jumping into the crowd. Continuing through the set, the band hit crowd favorites such as “Our Apologies,” “Sun Doesn’t Rise,” “Solitaire Unraveling,” “Seen It All,” and “12 Hundred.” Even with lineup changes throughout their long-spanning career, Mushroomhead’s Halloween show will always be one of the best.
