On April 3, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy released his third album, The Weight of the Woods. He drew inspiration from his home country, Ireland. The majority of it was written and recorded down the road from his home, together with close collaborator Gabe Simon. Irish musical instruments and folk-inspired melodies are mixed with Dermot’s notoriously powerful yet calming vocals and vulnerable lyrics.
“If I get up in a pub with just a guitar or a piano, I’m certain that I can sing to a room full of people. It’s where I’m the most comfortable. I wanted that element to be front-and-center on this album.”
Following the release of The Weight of the Woods, Dermot will be going on the road throughout the U.K., mainland Europe and North America. It will be his largest headline tour to date, with all the U.K. shows taking place in arenas.
