Three-time GRAMMY Award winner Sarah McLachlan has released her new single, “All the Disaster,” via Concord Records. The track follows the success of her latest album, Better Broken, which arrived last fall to widespread critical acclaim.
“All This Disaster” has been years in the making. McLachlan recently shared that the song began as an acoustic guitar idea that lingered unfinished until she revisited it in the studio with producers Tony Berg and Will Maclellan. Inspired by the songwriting of Alex Greenwald of Phantom Planet, she brought him into the process, and the track quickly took shape. The result is a light, summery song that captures the feeling of driving with the top down and leaving your worries behind — if only for a little while.
Better Broken marks McLachlan’s first album in nearly a decade and has been praised by major outlets, including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, and The Wall Street Journal. She recently showcased songs from the album during a performance on NPR Tiny Desk Concerts and discussed the project, along with her legacy and the impact of Lilith Fair, on the podcast “Good Hang with Amy Poehler.”
McLachlan will bring the album to the stage this summer with her “Better Broken Summer Tour,” kicking off July 1. The tour includes stops in major cities such as Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, and Chicago, along with performances at iconic venues like Forest Hills Stadium, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and Greek Theatre. She’ll wrap up the run with two nights at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in August. Allison Russell will join as a special guest on all dates.
Over the course of her three-decade career, McLachlan has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide and earned three GRAMMY Awards and twelve JUNO Awards. Beyond her music, she is also known for founding Lilith Fair, the groundbreaking all-female festival that helped reshape the live music landscape.
McLachlan’s impact extends beyond music through her philanthropic work as the founder of the Sarah McLachlan School of Music. Established in Vancouver in 2002, the organization provides free music education and mentorship to underserved youth and now serves more than 2,000 students annually across three Canadian cities. Notably, $1 from every ticket sold on the upcoming tour will be donated directly to support the school.
