After a year and a half of new music, Mayday Parade have officially completed one of the most ambitious projects of their career with the release of Sugar, the third and final installment in their album trilogy. Alongside the album, the band also released the official music video for the new single, “Sweet Sad Sugar.”

The trilogy began with Sweet in April 2025 and continued with Sad later that October. Together, the three releases deliver nearly 30 new songs that showcase the band’s evolution while staying true to the sound that has made them a staple in the emo and pop-punk scene for more than two decades.

Produced once again by longtime collaborators Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount, Sugar brings together the energy of Sweet with the more reflective moments found on Sad. Tracks like “Lying To Myself” bring a driving intensity, while “Two Hearts” leans into a brighter, melodic groove. The title-inspired single, “Sweet Sad Sugar,” pays tribute to the band’s Tallahassee roots and the early days that helped shape Mayday Parade into one of the genre’s most enduring acts. The album closes with “What Happens Next,” a fitting finale that wraps up the trilogy while leaving the door open for the band’s next chapter.

The music video for “Sweet Sad Sugar” captures the same upbeat energy as the song while highlighting the chemistry that has kept the band together for more than 20 years. It also serves as the final visual piece of a project that has defined the last two years of the band’s career.

Bass player Jeremy “Cabbage” Lenzo shared his appreciation for the fans who supported the journey:

“We’re really grateful for the fans who have been with us through this whole journey and supported us in doing something like this. It’s what gives us the confidence to try something this big and see it through, because we know they’re right there with us.”

Released independently, the trilogy marks a new chapter of creative freedom for Mayday Parade. During the project, the band celebrated its 20th anniversary with its biggest North American headlining tour to date, toured internationally alongside All Time Low, Simple Plan, and Jack’s Mannequin, returned to the Vans Warped Tour main stage, and completed what has become one of the most creative undertakings of its career.

With more than 1.49 billion career streams, multiple Gold and Platinum certifications, and a catalog that helped define a generation of emo, pop-punk, and alternative music fans, Mayday Parade continues to prove why they’ve remained one of the genre’s most beloved bands.

The band celebrated the release of Sugar with an appearance at Vans Warped Tour Long Beach and will continue performing at festivals throughout the year. As one chapter comes to a close, Sugar shows that Mayday Parade are still finding new ways to grow while never losing sight of the heart and honesty that built their legacy.
