My journey into a life long passion of creating art started when my Dad – Joseph Benton Self – decided to teach me video editing in the 4th grade, at 9 years old. Among the last of youth to truly enjoy growing up outside and away from screens, I was hesitant at first because I associated technology with school – but about 30 minutes into watching how editing video is done, I fell in LOVE with the truth that in digital art – I can make ANYTHING I imagine, anything I envision. I learned how to shoot video in those formative years of my life, and in middle school I taught myself industry standard tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, and After Effects. In High School I developed my skills in Photography, Lightroom and Photoshop. Afterwards, I practiced in Graphic Design and worked for a couple of reputable businesses as a full time graphic design and print specialist. The lesson of creative process my Dad taught me in the 4th grade turned into a inextinguishable fire – like a shooting star that never fades – made of my passion and desire to create art. Second to spending time with my Family – creating art is my favorite life experience, and getting to make art for others, to bring their visions to life – is one of life’s greatest joys. Thanks for reading! Let’s go make some ART!
